For summer 2027 flights from Canada to India, start watching fares in November 2026 and aim to be ticketed by about March 2027. Peak dates are departures from late June (Ontario schools finish on 30 June) and returns from mid-August to Labour Day, 6 September. Expect July to be the priciest month; an Air Canada fare snapshot put Toronto to Delhi from about CAD 1,911 in June, 2,012 in July and 1,936 in August.

When is the best time to book summer 2027 flights to India?
For a July departure, the practical window is roughly four to eight months out, so November 2026 to March 2027. That’s a working rule, not a law.
Published research on international fares points the same way. A booking guide from Going puts the sweet spot for peak-season international trips at four to ten months before departure, while a CabinZero guide suggests five to six months. None of that is specific to Canada-India, so I treat it as a rough range and not a promise.
What I’d tell a family on the phone:
- Travelling with school-age kids, fixed dates: book by the end of February. These are the seats everyone wants, and the cheaper fare classes on the nonstops go first.
- Flexible adults or couples: watch from November, and buy when the fare drops under what you’d call a fair price for the date, not when you feel brave.
- Anyone who needs to move dates: pay a little more for a fare with better change rules. Our piece on booking now or waiting goes through the logic.
The airlines have already loaded the summer. Air Canada’s fare pages were showing June, July and August 2027 prices for Toronto-Delhi in early October 2026, so there’s nothing stopping you from looking. Looking and buying are two different things, though.
What are the peak dates for summer travel from Canada to India?
Peak out is the last week of June through the first week of July. Peak back is roughly 15 August to the Labour Day weekend. Those two bands are where fares are highest and seats scarcest.
| Date 2027 | What’s happening | Fare pressure |
|---|---|---|
| 28 to 30 June | Last classes: Edmonton schools 28 June, BC 29 June, Ontario 30 June | Very high from the evening of the last day |
| 1 July (Thursday) | Canada Day, start of the long weekend rush | High |
| Mid-July | Families already settled in India | Eases slightly |
| Mid to late August | Return flights before September school | High |
| Sat 4 to Mon 6 September | Labour Day weekend returns | Very high |
School dates come from the boards themselves: Ontario’s calendar has the school year ending 30 June 2027 (some boards finish elementary classes a day earlier), the Vancouver School Board ends on 29 June, and Edmonton Public Schools on 28 June. Your own board may differ, so check before you pay for non-changeable tickets.
How much more do summer fares cost?
Expect a noticeable premium over the quiet months, and plan around it. On the same Air Canada pages, the lowest Toronto-Delhi round-trip showed about CAD 1,618 for late October 2026 travel, against CAD 1,911 for June, 2,012 for July and 1,936 for August 2027. That’s roughly 18 to 24 per cent higher, though these are “from” fares collected over a 48-hour window and they’d have been different on another day.
| Travel month (Toronto to Delhi, return) | “From” fare seen | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Late Oct to mid-Nov 2026 | CAD 1,618 | Quiet season, for comparison |
| June 2027 | CAD 1,911 | Cheapest summer month on that page |
| July 2027 | CAD 2,012 | Highest of the three |
| August 2027 | CAD 1,936 | Return leg is the pinch |
Treat the table as indicative only. Fares move daily, they’re for the lowest available seats on a given date, and a family of five rarely gets five of them. Western departures cost more. The same page showed Winnipeg from about CAD 1,906 and Edmonton from about CAD 2,080 for the lowest fares at that time. For a longer view, our cheapest month to fly Toronto to Delhi post covers how the year runs.
What is the monsoon really like in India from June to August?
It’s not one rainy season. The monsoon arrives in the south first, hits Mumbai in mid-June, reaches Delhi around the end of June, and then rains on and off through the rest of the summer.
The India Meteorological Department’s revised normal dates, reported by The Week, have Kerala on 1 June, Mumbai on 11 June, Ahmedabad on 21 June and Delhi on 27 June, with the whole country normally covered by 8 July. Actual arrival can run early or late, as it did in 2025, when it reached Kerala on 24 May. Here’s how it looks for travellers.
| Region | Summer reality | My advice |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi, Punjab, Haryana | Heat in June, then humid rain from about the end of June | Late June is the hottest; July and August are wetter but more bearable |
| Mumbai, Goa, Kerala | Heavy rain through the summer | Fine for family visits; poor for beach holidays |
| Gujarat | Rain starts around the third week of June | Flights are normal, roads are not always |
| Himachal and Uttarakhand hills | Rain can bring landslides and road closures | Leave a buffer day before your flight home |
If you’re flying home to see family, the monsoon is an inconvenience, not a reason to move your dates. If you’re planning a holiday with sightseeing, our offbeat hill stations post and the month-by-month guide help you choose.
Can you beat the peak by travelling a bit earlier or later?
Yes, and it’s the single most reliable saving. Leaving in the second week of June or returning before 15 August takes you out of the worst of it, if your school or work allows it.
Say you’re a couple with no kids flying from Toronto. Going out on 12 June and coming back on 10 August tends to cost noticeably less than leaving 1 July and returning 29 August, even with the same trip length. Families locked into the school calendar can’t do that. For them, the trick is flexibility within the peak: flying on a Tuesday or Wednesday instead of the Friday after school ends often matters more than the month.
Midweek departures are usually cheaper. The CabinZero guide above puts the saving at about 12 per cent compared with Sunday, though that’s a generic figure.
What about students heading back to Canada in August?
They’re competing for the same seats. International students returning to Canadian campuses in late August fly the same India-to-Canada flights as families going back to Ontario and BC schools, which tightens availability in the last two weeks of the month. If you have a student in the house, book that return leg early. Our post on student flights from India to Canada goes through baggage and fare options.
What should you check before paying for summer tickets?
Summer trips usually carry the most luggage and the least flexibility, so a few checks are worth five minutes.
- Baggage allowance on the exact fare. Summer suitcases are heavy with gifts and clothes. Our baggage and packing guide explains piece versus weight allowances, and the cheapest fares sometimes carry fewer free bags.
- Change and cancellation terms. School dates, visas and work leave all slip. Know the fee before you buy, not after. See how to avoid extra charges.
- Connection length. A 90-minute layover looks fine on paper in June. In July thunderstorms and crowded hubs make it tight, especially with kids or grandparents.
- Names and documents. Names on tickets must match passports exactly, and each traveller needs the right visa or OCI before flying.
Which routes and airports should you compare?
Compare more than one gateway. From Toronto, the nonstops to Delhi are the benchmark. From Vancouver, Air India’s winter schedule has seven weekly Delhi flights, though summer frequencies get set separately, so check them. Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg departures usually connect via Toronto, Vancouver or a European or Gulf hub, and sometimes the connecting fare undercuts the nonstop by enough to justify the extra hours. Our Canada to India flights guide maps the options, and the Toronto round-trip post covers the typical ranges.
If you’ve got a larger group, whether it’s three generations or two siblings’ families, read the group and family booking guide first. The number of seats in the lowest fare class often decides the price per head.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest month to fly Canada to India in summer?
June usually comes in lower than July or August, and early June cheaper than late June. In an October 2026 Air Canada snapshot for Toronto to Delhi, June 2027 showed the lowest summer fare and July the highest. Fares change daily, so check your own dates.
How early should I book flights for July 2027?
Most families do best booking between about November and March. If you have fixed school dates and a larger group, lean towards the earlier end. If your dates can shift by a week or two, watch fares and buy when they dip, but don’t leave it to May.
Is it a bad idea to travel to India during the monsoon?
Not for family visits. Flights run normally in most places, though heavy rain can cause local delays and road closures, especially in the hills. For sightseeing, the experience depends on the region. The monsoon normally covers the whole country by about 8 July.
When do Canadian schools finish for summer 2027?
Ontario’s calendar has the last day on 30 June 2027, with some elementary schools finishing 29 June. The Vancouver School Board ends on 29 June and Edmonton Public Schools on 28 June. Dates differ by board, so confirm yours before booking.
Are flights cheaper if I fly midweek?
Often, yes. Tuesday and Wednesday departures tend to cost less than Fridays and Sundays, and one travel guide puts the gap near 12 per cent against Sunday. For India, the effect is stronger in peak weeks. Always compare adjacent dates before you pay.
Can I book 2027 summer flights now?
For many airlines, yes. Air Canada was already showing June to August 2027 fares in October 2026. Other carriers open their schedules at different times, so a flight you want might not be on sale yet. Being able to book doesn’t mean you should rush.
Is a return or one-way ticket better for a summer trip?
For a fixed-length holiday, a return is generally cheaper than two one-ways on international routes. A one-way or open return makes sense if your stay is uncertain. Ask what the change rules and fees are on the fare you’re being offered.
Do I need a visa to fly to India in summer 2027?
Canadian passport holders need an Indian visa, usually an e-Visa for tourism, unless they hold an OCI card. Apply well before you fly through the official Indian e-Visa portal, and check that your passport has the validity your visa type requires.
