There are no nonstop flights from Canada to Goa. Most travellers fly to Mumbai or Delhi and connect on a domestic flight, or take Qatar Airways via Doha. Goa has two airports: Dabolim (GOI) in the south and Mopa, officially Manohar International (GOX) in the north. Plan on 20 to 30 hours and CA$1,400 to CA$2,300 return, with December the dearest month.

Which Goa airport should you fly into, Dabolim or Mopa?
Choose by where you are staying. Mopa suits North Goa (Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator, Arambol). Dabolim suits South Goa (Colva, Benaulim, Palolem) and is closer to Panaji and Margao.
| Airport | Location and drive times | What flies there |
|---|---|---|
| Dabolim (GOI) | Near Vasco da Gama. About 30 km to Panaji, about 23 km to Margao. | Many domestic flights, plus some Gulf and Russian services. Shares the runway with the Indian Navy. |
| Mopa, Manohar International (GOX) | North Goa. Roughly 40 km and 50 to 60 minutes to Calangute and Baga, about 90 minutes to Margao, about two hours to Palolem. | Opened in January 2023. IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa and others domestically, plus Qatar Airways to Doha. |
The drive times are the part people ignore. A flight that lands at Mopa for a hotel in Palolem means roughly two more hours in a taxi. A family that books Dabolim for a villa in Vagator faces something similar in the other direction, often through the Mandovi bridge traffic. A few thousand rupees in taxi fares can wipe out whatever you saved on the ticket.
Dabolim also has a quirk: it is a joint military and civil airport, and naval flight training can restrict civilian operations during some morning hours on certain days. Mopa, by contrast, is a civil airport that runs round the clock. If your connecting flight is at Dabolim, check the schedule before you assume you can fly at your preferred time.
Check both airports whenever you search. Many domestic carriers serve both, and the cheaper listing may be at the airport that is wrong for your hotel.
What are the best routes from Canada to Goa?
There are three practical ones, and the best depends on your Canadian city and how much you value a single ticket.
| Route | How it works | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Canada → Mumbai → Goa | Long-haul to Mumbai, then a domestic flight of about an hour and a quarter to GOI or GOX. | The shortest domestic hop, with frequent Mumbai to Goa flights through the day. |
| Canada → Delhi → Goa | Long-haul to Delhi (nonstop from Toronto or Vancouver), then about 2 h 45 min to Goa. | Most long-haul choice, but a terminal change and a longer second flight. |
| Canada → Doha → Goa (Qatar Airways) | Toronto or Montreal to Doha, then straight to Mopa. | One airline end to end, but the Doha–Goa flight has been disrupted in 2026 and not every day is guaranteed. |
The Mumbai option is better this winter
For Goa, Air India is running a seasonal nonstop Toronto to Mumbai flight three times a week (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) from 25 October 2026 to 26 March 2027. Toronto departure is early afternoon, with arrival in Mumbai mid-afternoon the next day. That is a good fit if you want to be in Goa by night, but it is a tight evening, so keep it on one ticket.
On the other days, Delhi is the dependable gateway. Air India lists daily Toronto to Delhi nonstops and Vancouver to Delhi flights as well, and the domestic leg to Goa leaves from either Delhi terminal depending on the carrier.
Is the Doha route to Goa still running?
Yes, but it has been interrupted this year, so treat it as an option and not a given. Qatar Airways moved its Goa flights to Mopa in June 2024. In April 2026 The Goan reported that Doha to Mopa would restart on 16 May 2026, after flights were cut back because of tensions in the region. Before you pay, confirm that the Doha to Goa leg is operating on your dates and look at what the airline does if it is retimed.
The reason this route is appealing is simple: if it works, you check in once at Toronto or Montreal and your bag goes to Goa. The reason to be careful is the same. If the second flight is cancelled, you are stuck in Doha and your options depend on how you booked.
When is the best time to fly from Canada to Goa?
Goa’s season runs from November to February. December is the peak, especially from Christmas to New Year’s, when hotel prices and fares both spike. The monsoon runs roughly June to September, many beach shacks close and sea swimming is often restricted.
| Period | Goa conditions | Fares from Canada |
|---|---|---|
| November to early December | Dry, hot sun, the season has begun | Moderate. A good time to book. |
| Christmas to New Year’s | Peak crowds, packed beaches | Highest of the year. Book months ahead. |
| January to February | Still dry and busy, slightly calmer | Often cheaper than December. One aggregator named February the cheapest month. |
| March to May | Hot and humid, thinning crowds | Lower, but the heat is real. |
| June to September | Monsoon, many shacks closed | Cheapest Goa stay, but Canadian summer fares are driven by school holidays. |
As for price, Cheapflights Canada showed return fares to Goa from about CA$1,428 in October 2026, with Air India from around CA$1,519, Qatar Airways from around CA$1,622 and British Airways from around CA$2,074. These are snapshot figures, and December dates cost more. Our Christmas and New Year booking guide covers the timing of those peak weeks, and the India destinations guide compares Goa with other winter options.
Should you book Canada to Goa on one ticket or two?
One ticket, almost always. When the long-haul and the Goa flight are on a single booking, the airline has to get you to Goa if the first flight is late, and your bags are checked through. On two separate tickets, a late arrival in Mumbai means you buy a new domestic fare, and most budget domestic fares do not allow free changes.
Here is the realistic scenario. Say you fly Toronto to Delhi and book IndiGo to Goa separately because it was CA$90 cheaper. The long-haul lands 90 minutes late. You still have to clear immigration, collect your bags, clear customs, and re-check them. Air India’s own guidance is that passengers moving from international arrival to a domestic flight collect their bags, clear customs and redeposit them at the transfer desk, with 30 to 45 minutes between terminals on top. That is why we advise at least three hours on a domestic connection, and four if the terminals differ.
The single-ticket route can cost slightly more. It is usually worth it. If you are routing through Mumbai or Delhi on the way home, the same rule applies: leave plenty of time for the international check-in cutoff, which is much earlier than the domestic one. Our airports, layovers and connections guide goes into the details.
What happens to your baggage allowance on the Goa leg?
On a single ticket, the airline normally applies the long-haul allowance to the whole trip, so two 23 kg bags usually carry through to Goa. On a separate domestic ticket, you fall under that airline’s domestic rules, and the checked limit for a basic domestic fare is often as low as 15 kg per person. A family arriving with four large suitcases can face excess-baggage charges at the Mumbai or Delhi domestic counter that more than cancel the cheaper fare. Read the baggage line on the domestic fare before you buy it, and see our baggage and packing guide for the Canada to India rules.
How do you get the best price on a Goa trip from Canada?
Be flexible about the gateway city and the hotel location. Most savings come from three decisions: being flexible on the day of the week, choosing Mumbai over Delhi if the nonstop fare is lower, and not insisting on the same airport both ways. Arriving at Mopa and leaving from Dabolim is a perfectly good idea if you are spending a week in the north and a week in the south, and an agent can price it as an open-jaw ticket.
This is where a human agent earns their fee. A family of five flying from Calgary, with two adults wanting the Mumbai flight and a grandparent joining from Vancouver, is exactly the kind of booking that online search handles badly. Metairfare’s Calgary-based agents work with negotiated fares from 50+ airlines, and have 750+ Google reviews and 2,000+ Trustpilot reviews. You can call +1-877-700-0520 and ask for a Goa quote on your dates.
If you only need a simple Toronto to Goa return on a single ticket, you can probably book it online yourself. You do not need an agent for that. You need one when you have several people, several cities or any flexibility you want to use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a direct flight from Toronto to Goa?
No. As of October 2026 there is no nonstop from any Canadian city to Goa. Typical trips take 20 to 30 hours with one stop, usually in Mumbai, Delhi or Doha. Air India’s winter nonstop to Mumbai makes the Mumbai route faster on its operating days.
Is Mopa airport better than Dabolim?
It depends on your hotel. Mopa is newer, runs around the clock and is closer to the northern beaches. Dabolim is closer to Panaji, Margao and the south. Compare the taxi cost and time to your hotel, not only the ticket price. Many domestic airlines serve both, so check which one your fare lands at.
How far is Mopa airport from Calangute and Baga?
Roughly 40 km, which is about 50 to 60 minutes in normal traffic. At night it is quicker, and in peak season on a weekend it can take longer. Anjuna and Vagator are a little closer, at around 40 minutes.
What is the cheapest month to fly from Canada to Goa?
Fare snapshots point to autumn and February as lower-priced, and December as the highest. Summer fares are driven by Canadian school holidays even though Goa is in monsoon. Always check live prices, because airlines change them daily. Booking well ahead helps most.
Can I book a domestic flight to Goa separately from my international ticket?
You can, but you take on the risk. If your long-haul flight is late, the airline that sold you the domestic leg owes you nothing, and you may need to buy a new ticket. A single booking is safer, especially in December and January. If you do, leave a long gap and check the domestic baggage allowance first.
Do I need a visa to fly from Canada to Goa?
Canadian passport holders need an Indian visa or e-visa. OCI cardholders do not. Apply only on the official Indian government site, and do it before you buy non-refundable tickets, or at least before you travel. Allow a few days for processing.
How long does it take to fly from Mumbai to Goa?
About an hour and 15 minutes in the air. With the airport procedures at both ends, allow a half day if you are arriving from Canada. Mumbai to Goa flights are frequent, which helps if a connection is missed. Add transfer time to your hotel on top of that.
